How hard is Hyrox? Very.

How hard is Hyrox? Very.

And this is why Hyrox simulations are so important! Hyrox has the potential be the most difficult fitness related thing you have ever done. Why? Let this author break it down for you.

Hyrox is a power endurance race that is made up of several key fitness components:

Endurance – You will need to run approximately 8K and if you don’t like to run, it will be a struggle. The lunges, rowing and wall balls also require muscular endurance.

Strength – Pushing sled on the Hyrox carpet, wall balls, burpees, SkiErg and farmers carry – all these need strength combined with endurance.

Mobility – You must be able to squat for various of the exercises and recovery is dependent on mobility.

This all leads to one bottom line: If you lack in one area, Hyrox will reveal it!

This brings us back to why it is important to recreate the feeling of Hyrox often when you are training because doing a 500m SkiErg or running on treadmill once while in the gym can give you a false sense of security that you can do a Hyrox. This would be a mistake.

Recreating the feeling or a proper Hyrox simulation helps you know how hard the actual event is and how much you need to train to be optimally ready for the same. It is like training for any event be it a marathon, while you may not run 42K daily, you will try to run the distance at your pace a few times before the event. Hyrox simulation is the same.

Having to workout with others will help you compete, push yourself and reassess yourself better.

Another reason to consider doing simulations is that the consecutive fatigue of doing all the exercise changes how one will finish the event. For example, wall balls at the end of Hyrox may feel more heavier than the weight specified and if you are great runner, the 1K distance will still feel more because you have been compromised. The same weight that felt easy in a one-off gym session will feel heavy during the farmers carry. This is not an exaggeration but rather a warning or a friendly way to tell you – DO THAT HYROX CLASS OR SIMULATION TODAY!

HYROX CLASS

Where do you ask? Just ask your friendly neighbourhood trusted nutrition brand, aka, Fast&Up

Yes! Fast&Up has teamed up with various centres in different cities to create Hyrox simulations that will help you with pacing, stations and recreating the feeling as close to real for you to understand your strengths, weakness and everything in between.

Fast&Up has teamed up with various centres

At these simulations you learn to make a game plan that suits you, for example, running the same pace per station may not be the best because fatigue post sleds may be different as compared to burpees. Going too hard early on or taking breaks – you need to figure a pace that suits you and the simulation helps you do just that!

Doing the simulations with Fast&Up will also help you plan your nutrition strategy better. You can experience a stronger start with our Fast&Up Pre-Workout while our Reload and Instant Energy Gel will help you sustain and pace you during the event with optimal hydration and energy support. For faster recovery check out our Creatine multiverse and choose a creatine that suits you – effervescent or powder! Our Hyrox nutrition kit helps you train effectively, improve your endurance during and recovery after the training. This nutrition kit is not just for the event but daily to help you achieve your goal timing on event day.

So in conclusion, Hyrox is hard. The simulations help you gauge where you are at and what you need to work on. You should not do the simulation everyday cause that would be sub-optimal for your training. The number will depend on your fitness, recovery time and spacing between event day. The only advice the author will give is that sometimes, ignorance is not bliss and a little bit of simulation goes a long way to let you know what is coming ahead!
